Information collected

You do not need an account to read anything on this site, and the public pages do not ask you to submit personal information.

• Usage data. Standard analytics data such as pages viewed, approximate region, referring site, browser, and device type.
• Server logs. Requests to the site are logged by the hosting provider, including IP address, timestamp, and the requested URL. These logs are used for security and troubleshooting.
• Email you send. If you contact the published email address, that message and your email address are retained so the conversation can continue.
• Administrator sign-in. The private administration area is restricted to the site owner and uses secure session cookies. It is not available to visitors.

Analytics and cookies

This site uses Google Analytics to understand which articles and pages are useful. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes usage data on its own infrastructure under Google's privacy policy.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and most browsers offer a private browsing mode. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect your ability to read the site. Google also publishes a browser opt-out add-on.

Affiliate links

Some pages, including the Chiefs shop guide, contain affiliate links to retail partners such as Fanatics. If you follow one of those links and make a purchase, the retailer may pay a commission. The retailer handles the transaction, and this site never receives your payment details. Affiliate partners may set their own cookies to attribute a referral, which is governed by their privacy policies.

How information is used

• To operate, secure, and troubleshoot the site.
• To understand which content readers find valuable.
• To respond to messages you send.
• To report affiliate referrals to retail partners.

Your information is never sold, rented, or traded. It is shared only with the service providers described in this policy, or when required by law.

Service providers

The site runs on Amazon Web Services and uses Google Analytics for measurement. Published articles may also be distributed to Blogger and Facebook, where those platforms' own privacy policies apply to anything you do there, including likes, comments, and shares.

Data retention

Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics defaults. Server logs are retained for a limited operational period and then discarded. Email correspondence is kept as long as it remains relevant.

Your choices

You may block cookies, use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, or avoid affiliate links. You may also request a copy or deletion of any personal information held about you by emailing the address below. Requests are honored where the information can be identified and no legal obligation requires it to be retained.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed to children under 13, and information is not knowingly collected from them.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the site changes. The revision date at the top of the page always reflects the current version.
